To be a supermodel is to be admired by thousands of fans all over the world as you show off designer clothes and look gorgeous on the runway. But the highest-paid supermodels are more than just figures on the runway—they are also TV hosts, spokespeople, and beauty and fashion moguls. These other smart business ventures are what make the difference between a well-paid supermodel and one of the highest-earning supermodels of all time. Here is a list of the top four biggest earners in the fashion world.

Tyra Banks - $90 Million

Everybody "smize!" With a net worth of around $90 million, Tyra Banks is one of the most recognizable supermodels even to people who aren't interested in fashion. She is perhaps best known for her wildly successful TV series America's Next Top Model, but she has also hosted her own popular talk show and appeared in many television shows and movies, such as Life Size and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Before she did all that, though, she was one of the first African-American supermodels to break through in the business, posing for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, GQ, and walking the runway of the glamorous Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.

Cindy Crawford - $100 Million

The name Cindy Crawford is synonymous with the word "supermodel." Cindy Crawford is perhaps the most famous supermodel of all time, but few know that she actually went to to school to be an engineer. This smart, business-minded model has been in the modeling industry since she was a teenager, and has appeared in a myriad of magazines and exercise videos in addition to her appearances on the runway. In 2000, she retired as a model and turned her attention to designing furniture for her own furniture company, helping her to raise her net worth to over $100 million.

Gisele Bundchen - $250 Million

Gisele Bundchen has had such a staggeringly successful career that she is the youngest woman on the highest-earning supermodel list, with a net worth of around $250 million. In 2014 (and several of the years leading up to it), she was the highest-paid model in the world. Part of this success is due to her inventing what is called the "horse walk," a way of walking on the runway that involves raising your knees and kicking your leg out as you walk to bring more attention to your calves.

Kathy Ireland - $420 Million

Some current supermodel fans might not be aware of this fashion icon from the 80s and 90s, but Kathy Ireland has her hand in just about everything. She began her career appearing in such publications as the famous Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition before turning to acting, public speaking, reality television, and endorsement deals. What earned her the most money, though, was founding an international company that produces every type of product from furniture and children's toys to books and jewelry. This company brings in billions of dollars in sales each year, and Ireland herself is now worth more than $420 million.
