Movie enthusiasts had over 11,000 titles to see in 2018 alone, but just a handful—mostly superhero blockbusters—contributed the lion's share of tickets to the year's record-breaking grosses. According figures from Box Office Mojo, these are the seven highest-grossing movies of 2018 in the U.S.

Black Panther – $700 million

Directed by Ryan Coogler, top stars in the movie include Michael B. Jordan, Chadwick Boseman, and Lupita Nyong’o.

Avengers: Infinity War – $678.82 million

“Avengers: Infinity War," written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, features a massive cast that includes Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, and Scarlett Johansson. The third installment of the Marvel team-up was released in April 2018 and grossed over $257 million within its opening weekend.
